Indigenous Peoples, Climate Change and Environmental Knowledge Conference

Featuring undergraduate students as well as distinguished guests, this conference includes posters and discussion sessions on indigenous peoples and climate change, and opens up a much broader discussion about environmental epistemologies across diverse cultures, as well as environmental management, race and class dynamics, and the intersection of local, national, and global issues. This two day event takes a look at today’s real families, and engages attendees in issues surrounding rethinking curriculum and reshaping school climate.  Conference includes presentations about LGBTQ families and includes student research presentations in a campaign to reduce gender and sexuality prejudice and bullying in schools.  Sponsored by the Department of Education Studies in the College of Education. University of Oregon 2nd Annual Undergraduate Symposium

Thursday May 24th, 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  EMU Concourse, River Rooms and Tree Rooms  OPEN TO ALL

An all day celebration of the research contributions of the University of Oregon’s undergraduate student population.  More than 130 undergraduate students will give poster and oral presentations throughout the EMU, featuring original research and creative expression in the Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities and the Arts. Special welcoming by Vice Provost Karen Sprague will open the day.  Research presentations begin at 11:00 a.m.; an invitation only lunch with feature two special keynote addresses and a performance by Music School students.  Sponsored by the Division of Undergraduate Studies, the Division of Academic Enrichment in the Center for Multicultural Academic Excellence, and University Housing.
