BET hails "She speaks rapidly, like a string of
illegal firecrackers, lit at once. But while she can manage emphatic,
festive would be a real stretch. Sarah Jones' ideas are complicated: by
race, gender, pain, erotica, and a relentless intellectual (sometimes
academic) analysis."
Sarah Jones is a high voltage spoken word performer, actor, and playwright, featured in "Lyricists Lounge," winner of the Nuyorican Poets Cafe's Grand Slam Championship, nominee of the Drama Desk award and winner of the 2000 HBO Aspen Comedy Arts Festival. Ms. Jones was also featured in Spike Lee's "Bamboozaled" and most recently was subjected to unfair FCC/Federal Communications Comission's criticism for her beats and lyrics of "Your Revolution," a feminist rap critique inspired in part by Gil Scott Heron. In all her works, Jones displays her firm grasp on today's complex multicultural society and dissects it with humor, passion, and humanity. |
