Los Angeles-based Alex Luu made his third appearance
at the University of Oregon and lead another successful workshop for "My
Own Story." This very popular program lasts five weeks and includes 10
UO students who learn techniques and skills in preparation for a final
public performance. The "My Own Story" workshops are offered to students
of color, providing them a platform to perform "their story" which are
not often seen through mainstream media. The final performances take the
audience through emotions of anger, joy, laughter, and tears, leaving
a lasting impression on everyone. More than 300 people attended this year's
performance on February 17 in the EMU Fir Room.
The 2003 "My Own Story" students were Quinn Chiotti, Michael Cruz, Darlene Espinoza Dadras, Jason Floyd, Lilee Hua, Mark Padoongpatt, Jennie Pai, Rashree Parsad, Hanna Persson, and Solana Sawyer. |
