04.26.02> Black Arts Festival Poetry Night

This night brought the community together to recite life experiences, thoughts, dreams or simple words that touched hearts and opened minds. Some presented published poems to celebrate a rich heritage of ideas and poems, or simply to reach the audience on their behalf. Others presented original material expressly from their souls.

The Masters of Ceremony were Abolade Majekobaje and Domonique Beaumont. Speakers for the night included Allison Prasad, Eric Lackie, Kim Jones, and many more. The 13th Street Tribe Band set the tone of the evening by playing songs throughout the evening and as a cool back up interlude ensemble for the poets. All and all it was a smooth, soothing evening of words and rhythms, laughter and pain, deeds and drifting thoughts…
