The Asian/Pacific American Student Union (APASU) Fall Reception took place on Wednesday, November 6 in Gerlinger Lounge. The theme was "Past, Present, and Future" and the main focus of the reception this year was to welcome the Asian/Pacific American community, and to create relationships between UO students and Asian/Pacific American faculty and staff members.

At least 10 faculty and staff members attended to support APASU, and approximately 100 UO and Oregon State University students attended as well. The keynote speaker was Bettie Sing Luke, a very active community leader in the Asian-American community, both locally and within the Pacific Northwest. Also speaking was our very own interim. Coordinator of Diversity Programs, Kimi Mojica. Those attending the reception participated in a discussion of specific issues pertaining to Asian Americans. In addition, students acknowledged prominent Asian Americans in order to create awareness of their presence and impact in the community. Overall, it was a very successful event.
