THE OMA FALL RETREAT 2003

¡§It was cool to met people of color when you don¡¦t see many on campus. It was an important experience¡Kit opened up the community for everyone to get together.¡¨
-Daveed Kaplan, Freshman

The Office of Multicultural Affair¡¦s annual fall retreat is a wonderful opportunity for incoming students of color to meet other students and form lasting relationships. The retreat provided incoming students with the ability to begin networking and learning about the many resources that are available to them through the university. It also created a forum for discussion about different issues pertinent to students.

This year, the Office of Multicultural Affairs hosted 35 new UO students of color at Camp Harlow on October 3rd-5th. We also had more than 25 different organizations and agencies participate in the Information Fair.

When asked what part of the retreat he found the most important, freshman Jose Rosales said, "the sharing of backgrounds and cultural experiences made me realize that many people are alike although they come from diverse environments."
